YO! WHAT'S UP!!?

Oh well, I will have to come up with a better opening next time.

Haven't blogged for 2 days, I must say blogging is really quite 'therapeutic' because you're like sharing your thoughts to people whom you might or might not know.. you know what I mean right? But anyway, moving on..

I was wallowing in my own pity party these few days, it's almost inevitable as I thought of what happened to me this September. Sick for 1 week, lost at least 3 kgs, frequent loss of appetite, and my cell phone went crazy these few days!

whatever! Gotta snap out of it! 2 good things to happen though, 1) Going away for a short trip, and 2) SALARY DAY!!! You saw that coming right???? Flirting with the idea of getting an OMNIA.. and of course my Canon Ixus camera!

There goes my moolah...... BAH! whatever! I'm off to do some shopping alone!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanna take some time to pay tribute to the paralympians..

First, our own parathlete (don't know whether there's such a word or not..) Laurentia Tan.

'When she was five, Laurentia Tan was described as a "vegetable". Born with cerebral palsy, she could not speak, hear, walk or sit, and her parents Anselm and Jannie were advised to admit her into an institution'. Channel NewsAsia

I saw her interview on TV and I was so awed by her determination. It's like I can't even ride a horse and yet, she is able to compete in an international competition and win TWO medals ok! Seriously, how many of us able-bodied people can do what she did??

Secondly, how about a sprinter without both his legs? He is Oscar Pistorius.

Oscar Pistorius completed his gold-medal haul at the Paralympics on Tuesday, winning the 400 meters to go with sprint victories in the 100 and 200. The South African double amputee known as "The Blade Runner" finished in 47.49 seconds, a world record for his disability class. Channel NewsAsia

He won 3 gold medals and even broke the world record while at it! And he even wanted to compete against able-bodied athletes in the Olympics! But did not due to some ruling thing lah. I won't even come close if I had a race with him despite me having both my legs! I really salute him!

Last but not least, the victim of a cruel car accident that shattered her dreams. But she fought on and did not give up, she is Natalie Du Toit.

Despite losing her leg only a year after she just missed qualifying for the Olympics, South African swimmer Natalie du Toit still competes, still succeeds and still dream of one day taking part in an Olympic Games.

This was what she said:

The tragedy of life does not lie in not reaching your goals;
The tragedy of life lies in not having goals to reach for.
It is not a disgrace not to reach for the stars,
But it is a disgrace not to have stars to reach for.

They really inspire me and make me wanna be the best in what I do. Moreover, they are with struck down with different disabilities and yet that did not deter them from wanting to reach their goals. Us, being able-bodied and without any disabilities, can do much more if we just put out heart and soul into it!

But the poignant truth is that, more often than not, we are apathetic, tardy, lazy, full of procrastination, egoistic and blah blah blah... me being guilty of all the above at one stage of my life or another.. Now that I think of it, I can seriously do anything I want, it's a matter of whether how badly I want it.

hahhaha, I am just trying to be inspirational.. hahhahaha

F1 CRAZE!

Saw the Williams team F1 car just now, so I took it down. Quite nice actually. Too bad you can't drive it on the roads in Singapore~

This is the Williams FW29 model that their drivers are racing in this season.

If I had one, and one can drive on the roads here, I will reach anywhere in 5mins flat depending on traffic conditions!

I honestly heard F1 engines revving as the cars raced through the track in their practice sessions from CityLink Mall! It was like so loud can! It sounds almost like an aircraft engine!

It would be nicer if it's in red.. like the Ferrari team car!

Too bad no race queens! HAHAHHAHAHAHA

It's RAINING finally!!..... whatever..

Anyway, today started not on a good note for me. Just have a lot on my mind, oh well, sometimes we think too much for our own good really. I remembered a conversation with Mr D.Ong on Sunday morning over the phone while I was on my way to church:

Me: Hello
D.Ong: Where you?!
Me: On the bus lah!
D.Ong: ON THE BUS?!?..
Me: Yah, why???
D.Ong: Means you'll be late lah..
Me: Very fast will reach lah!
D.Ong: Hurry up! Wait God scold you ah!

Sometimes I really need Him to scold me to jolt me back to my senses when I go haywire, me by not looking down doesn't mean I'm not down you know...

Someone shared this with me the other day; titled '5 ways of staying optimistic in discouraging times'..

1) Start your day by having faith
It doesn't hurt you to start your day by believing that something positive or good will happen right?

Your first 10 minutes of the day sets the tone for your entire day..

How can you do it?
  • Listen to praise & worship CDs whenever you feel down. It helps to calm the mind and also helps you to get in the presence of God.
  • Start your day by hearing from God before others.
2) Look for the positives in every situation!
Things turn out best for people who makes the best out of things!

3) Give your worries to God
4) Stop speaking negatively
5) And remember, your future is a blessing!

Even if you are a non-christian, it will help too!

BE CONSIDERATE!

This happened when I was travelling on the train to school this morning.

I usually don't have a seat because of the morning rush hour people who are always trying to break the Guinness World Record by having the most number of people sqeezing into a train cabin.. but I got one today! So I sat down and was ready to catch up on my sleep since I slept late, or early, the night before. Anyway, after about 3 or 4 stations, a pregnant lady got up the train. She was obviously very tired due to the weight and strain on her back, so I got up and gave my seat to her. She thanked me and I stood at the space in front of her.

After another about 2 stations, an old lady, really really old lady, got up the train, she must be at least 75! She stumbled and struggled to get up the train and almost fell as the train was jerking along as it travelled. And magically, at this time, I realised that the people who were sitting next to me (or now next to the pregnant lady), fell asleep! ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!

WAHLAU, WHAT IS THIS?! #$^&*^%&*

Some of them were students, some were working adults but nonetheless, they were all more able-bodied to stand compared to that pregnant lady and the old woman! Really really selfish to the apple core! One of these days you (those who fell asleep so coincidentally) will be in their shoes and when nobody is gracious enough, you will understand how they felt!!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will be going on a short 3-day trip to Malacca with my YCK colleagues next week! Then when I come back, I will begin my preparations for my finals! Hahahahah, it is as though my exams are over.. hahahahaha but nevermind lah right.. hahahaha

I've been sick for almost a week now and I haven't really recovered, I also didn't have appetite for food; so for all the blood and weight that I've lost (must be at least 3 kgs!), the Malacca trip is an opportunity for me to pig out on food! As evidenced by the following conversation between Clement and me:

(It was in chinese but I translated ito english..)

Me: What's the itinerary?
Clement: We don't need itinerary what.
Me: How can?? Then how we know where to go?!
Clement: Aiyah.. Okok.. Give me 2 minutes..

(He went into his room and came out in less than 2 mins.. and I was waiting to see his plans...)

Me: So what is the itinerary?
Clement: Ok, here is the itinerary..
Me: (I was expecting something 'planned' and written down in paper at least, for reference...)
Clement: (*Clears his throat*..) We'll just walk until we're hungry, then eat, then we walk again till we're hungry, then eat, and then continue until we are tired, then we go back hotel to sleep. Then next day continue again.

Then he walks back to his room without saying anything more...

Clement, you rocks lah....

Bloody Day

I thought I was over my sickness, but to my horror of horrors, I sneezed blood! Well, those who knows me knows I sneeze thunderously.. My tian ah.. If this continues I have to see Mr Doc..

I got to know recently that I will be transferred permanently to another working location, oh man.. just when I was getting comfortable with the people there! I will seriously miss my friends there. Why am I saying this?..

Because I don't really like to be alone. I depend on others a lot even though I have this face that says 'Leave me alone!'

This is the Algene that people see me as ---

Don't smile very often, looks over-confident and at the same time arrogant, has an attitude and etc... and looks like he can get everything done on his own.

Maybe he doesn't need anybody. Maybe he chooses who to be his friends.

I admit that I can be confident at times but I'm a human being and I have my fair share of fears.

But I dare say I'm not arrogant.

I do smile and when I don't, I may look unfriendly but my friends know I'm ULTRA friendly.

Sometimes, I can be abit over.

If you hang out with me often enough, you can't help but agree that that part of Algene is like this too.

To my YCK colleagues, you'll all be remembered! And Clement, please behave yourself!

*Made of Honor*

I stayed at home to watch this movie and it was so worth my time!

The scene is about the man attempting a last ditch effort to win her back... He brought her to a quiet place and......

Man: I'm crazy about you,I think about you all the time and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.

Woman: Really?.. (She turns and faces him, seemingly being very touched by what he said...)

Man: Really... (Expecting a favourable reply from her..)

Woman: That's so generic...

Man: (Absolutely gutted by her response) Generic? Generic? How can that be generic??!..

Woman: Yeah it totally is! It sounds like something somebody is supposed to say as opposed to what they are really feeling!

Man: (Swallows saliva..) Alright, how about this..

Man again: (Looks her in the eye..) Nobody in the world makes me laugh the way you do... You're my best friend, I just want to be with you.

Now that certainly makes a whole lot of difference ain't it?

*cough..cough..cough*

Even though I had 6hrs of rest last night, I spent at least 1hr turning around in bed trying to fall asleep, another almost 2hrs frantically searching for tissue paper to sneeze and I sneezed so many times lah can..

So, I only slept for 3hrs+.. goodness me.. I spent most of my night sneezing and making a lot of noise! Not so good for a sick person..

By 2pm today, my last project will be submitted for marking and grading.. please pray that it will be graded FAVOURABLY! I am also still waiting anxiously for my other project result... caused me so many sleepless nights! chicken-mcnugget....

I will be taking a short break before embarking on my preparations for my FINALs, and I really do mean my FINAL exams. Thank God for seeing me through the bad and good times this tough few month.

I'm having a bad sore throat now so I shall talk err, write less.

Sick again lah

Check out the mess. Have been sneezing till my nose is redder than Rudolph's.

But thank God for a nice colleague who told me I can take it easy for the day!

Anyway, as I was dinner-ing just now, I saw something that was super nostalgic!

Remember these??? Someone told me it's called 'icing biscuit gems' or something like that..

My colleagues all snapped it up like hungry ghosts!

This is how much is left after 3 mins

Only a quarter pack left in 5mins

Now you see it now you don't.. in world record timing of approx. 10 mins..

My tian ah... I am really sick now, please let me be well tomorrow!

Good nite guys!

'Cha-pa-lang' Entry

Harlow!

I achieved something quite impossible recently; that is to have at least 7hrs of eye-shut. And I managed 8 last night! Now I feel 'shen-long-huo-hu'! (like dragon and lion)!

Anyway, some overdue thoughts from a sermon I heard since we're approaching the end of 2008.

5 areas that we should NEVER look back on.

1) Don't look back at the old sins that have been forgiven.

Forget what is past and strain towards the future!

2) Don't look back at old defeats!

Failure is never fatal, it is never a finale!

3) Don't look back at old conflicts that make you bitter.

If you get hurt, don't nurse it, don't curse it, don't rehearse it, but release it and let God disperse it.

4) Forgive whoever has hurt you. Move on.

The weak cannot forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.

5) Don't look back at old victories and think that you have arrived at your destination.

A valley will always follow a mountain top!

Useful?? I think so!

Some overdue photos...

Faith couldn't smile in time..

Faith eating her goodies

Innessa and Clara

One of you asked me why I like children so much, well, I've seen ugly things people do (myself included), and we're all capable of doing bad things to other people. It's almost like an innate ability!

For myself, I've done some really bad things and end up hurting you, I realise that I am actually 'rotten' inside. YIKES! Guess it's no point looking back anymore.

As I look at the little ones, they're like a new beginning, so innocent and pure. I just pray that they will grow up to be upright and righteous men and women. But for now, let us just marvel at how cute they are, and how silly and funny they can be, shall we???

*******!! Gotta go prepare for work! Today I'll be at YCK!

A conversation

In the midst of my marketing team meeting, Maddie and I had a hilarious conversation. It was really so out of the blue kinda thing that even now as I think back, it's so funny! We were really so impromptu and creative! Here goes..

Maddie: The hot dog nice or not?
Me: But why is it called a hot dog when it is not even hot?
Maddie: OkOk... then is that 'warm' dog nice or not?
Me: It's also not warm what!!
Maddie: Wahlau.. (Gives me the eyes...)

Then Maddie continues...

Maddie: Then can I have a 'cold' dog?
Me: (Laughing..) Can can..
Me again: I want a 'freezing' dog... hahahhahaha

We both laugh out loud.. Then at last, the funniest one of them all..

Maddie: Let's go get a 'chill' dog...

hahahhahahahhahahahahha

Where I work

Here's my work desk...

Stacks of paper everywhere..!

Even this 'kebab' of papers~

EVEN UNDER MY TABLE...

This is my 'to-do' file where my 'to-do' things are put into... and it gets thicker everyday! tsk!

Then, at 10pm......

Gives me the creeps man..

Don't know what ghost and pontianak is lurking around the corner

A good location for horror films, like 'The Ring', 'Dark Water', 'Shutter'...

SEE! I got sidetracked..

ENOUGH FOR NOW!

Got morning class tomorrow!

Only had 3 pathetic hours of eye shut and I have to wake up to go to work. Just a quick update won't kill anyway!

Where: Andrew's Place
When: Last Sunday
Who: A lot of people

Baby Grace looks like she fainted

Singapore's Next Top Baby potential

Still sleeping, despite us being goofy around her

As usual....

She's a nurse by the way..

Baby Grace is so tiny and cute. And her legs look like lotus roots ('lian ou'). But she'll no doubt grow up to be a strong girl!

Ok! That's all for now!!
